This book is a masterpiece, unquestionably. The author has accomplished the wonderful feat of combining his considerable knowledge about a variety of topics into a detailed fictional universe. And the themes of the book interweave fluidly. You have little doubt, turning the pages, that Frank Herbert would be a fascinating and humbling person to sit down and have a conversation with. He clearly has much knowledge about ecology, religion and awareness.
